Visiting Scoresby Sund in May once again brought me so much pleasure: spring in the air, 24 hours daylight and the frozen fjord so white with icebergs reaching towards the sky. Meeting friends, barbeques on the balcony. Sun setting behing Gulefjeld, just before midnight. Soon it will be in the sky the whole 24 hrs. I look through the window and see the hunter in the distance walking towards the village of Kap Tobin with his seal pray.
13th May the very first geese arrived from Iceland, flying low. Gaggle after gaggle (flocks) of Pinkfooted and Barnacle geese. We try to count them to see if they are all pairs. |
