December in Akureyri could be called the time of lights. Most people start decorating their home as the advent season begins. As every year, the lights on our Christmas tree, a gift from our friendship town Randers, were lighted on Saturday afternoon. Though it started snowing lightly quite many people gathered at the town square at this occassion.

Lights are on!

... and this year we get an addition - as a piece fo practical art - huge Christmas cat next to the tree, which children found a fun thing to climb on to.
