Humpbacks, minke whales, dolphins and porpoises are commonly spotted during these popular tours. To ensure that the animals are not disturbed by our presence, we sail at a constant speed towards the whales’ habitat. As a result, a variety of species, from humpback whales to tiny porpoises, often surface within a few feet of the boat.
Eyjafjörður is abundant in different species of fish. Fishing rods will be available on the boat for those who wish to try a little bit of sea angling.
Dalvík is a small fishing town a bit further along the fjord. With an early sailing time you have the option to return to Akureyri with the passengers from a later sailing and use the extra time to explore Dalvík. The surroundings offer good chances for a short hike. The town has an interesting folk museum, a good outdoor geothermal swimming pool and more.
