The ultimate winter tour: Experience all the highlights of south Iceland as well as the Northern Lights. This tour takes you as far east as Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon and offers you the chance to go inside an ice cave. Add to this all the beautiful scenery of the south and, if you are lucky, the chance to see the Northern Lights. Can you ask for more?

Note about daily itinerary: Based on tour availability, the order of days may have to be re-arranged upon booking, e.g. the 2 day tour may start on day 2 rather than day 3, while the Golden Circle tour would move from day 2 to day 4.

Day 1:
Arrival – transfer to Reykjavik
Transfer from Keflavik airport to your accommodation in Reykjavik.

Sit back, relax and join us in the search for the world-famous Aurora Borealis.

Day 2:
The Golden Circle day tour
The Golden Circle is a must-do day tour out of Reykjavik. It offers you the opportunity to discover some of the highlights of southwest Iceland: Thingvellir National Park, Geysir Geothermal Area and Gullfoss waterfall. It also provides you with a general insight into the Icelandic history, geology, its people and its rich cultural heritage.

21:00 Complimentary Northern lights tour if no lights were spotted the night before.

Day 3:
Start of 2 day tour of South Shore, Skaftafell and Jokulsarlon
The South Coast of Iceland has so much to offer and to be seen. This part of the country is very rich in magnificent and diverse landscapes, ranging from vast farmlands, active volcanoes, numerous ice caps, glacier outlets and Glacier Rivers, amazing waterfalls, wide black sandy plains and beaches of black and fascinating basalt rock formations.
Highlights include Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfall, Reynisfjara black sand beach, the village of Vik and breathtaking views of glaciers and mountains.

Day 4:
Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon - Ice Cave – Skaftafell - Reykjavik

You can debate which is the bigger highlight, Jokulsarlon with its floating ice bergs (which is the first stop of the day) or the shimmer blue light inside the ice caves (which is the second stop), but you will certainly get up close and personal with a lot of glacier ice today! After visiting the ice cave, we stop again at Skaftafell National Park with its amazing scenery of mountains and glaciers.
We then head back to Reykjavik, looking out for the Northern Lights on our way back.
We return to Reykjavik between 21:00 and 23:00.

 Day 5:

Transfer from your accommodation in Reykjavik to Keflavik airport

 

The tour can be combined with the North Iceland programme. Extra nights in Reykjavik can easily be added to the itinerary.

The itinerary may need to be adapted or changed depending upon prevailing weather/road conditions.

Please note: Aurora Borealis is a natural phenomenon dependent on weather and sightings cannot be guaranteed every night. Complimentary retry another evening if the northern lights are not seen on the tour on day 1.
