Kulusuk in East Greenland

Tour ID: IG01

Tour duration: 8 hours (stopover in Greenland 4 hours)

Kulusuk is the gateway to East Greenland and this small settlement is an excellent introduction to the way of life in Greenland. Today about 375 inhabitants live in the village. For them traditional hunting and fishing is still essential, but now tourism and service industries are also becoming increasingly important.  The Inuit hunting culture is much in evidence in the village and many still rely on dog sledges and harpoons for hunting although more modern means have also been adopted.

Some locals make traditional crafted items, using the methods passed down from generation to generation. Textiles, bead work and carved handicrafts can be bought in the local village store.
